The Key to a Great Summer

Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you. 2 Corinthians 13:11

What do all these things have in common: the beach, barbecues, bonfires, friends, fried chicken, farmer’s tans, vacation trips, and tri-tips? They all mean it’s summer time and summer time is the time to create wonderful memories.

If you want to have the best summer of your life, it has to start with your words.

“Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.” 2 Corinthians 13:11

We can make memories that last a lifetime if we make the choice to go into every activity with the drive to encourage someone and build him or her up.

We often plan every detail of our summer, even down to the rest stops on our road trip. But have you ever stopped to plan how you’re going to encourage someone?

The truth is what we say matters. You know as well as I do that it only takes one snide comment to ruin a trip, a pool party or a backyard barbecue.

We can make memories that last a lifetime if we make the choice to go into every activity with the drive to encourage someone and build him or her up.

Now, this doesn’t come naturally for most of us. We are often quick to make a sarcastic comment, a cutting remark and sometimes even lose our cool. But those actions only create hurt and ruin the moment. It doesn’t have to be this way.

2 Corinthians 13:11 says, “Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.”

If you want the God of love and peace to be with you this summer then make the choice to have the best summer ever. Choose to be encouraging. Build someone up. Say something positive and full of love.

Not only will you have the best summer of your life but you will never be lacking in invites. Everyone will want you around.

Live on purpose,

Pastor Zac
