Rend Collective— ‘Good News’ Album Review

Best known as the Mumford and Sons of the worship genre, Rend Collective hits all the right notes in their latest album “Good News” as it offers a joyful and engaging testament to the Christian faith.

Originating from Bangor, Northern Ireland, the experimental folk, rock, and worship band has formulated an authentic and creative sound over the years that not only fashions their passion for music but also their love for Christ.

With “Good News” Currently sitting at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart, Rend Collective never ceases to amaze fans with their imaginative and inspirationally touching lyrics. The album offers 15 innovative songs that range from nu-folk with elements of Irish folk, Americana, soft rock and pop worshipful sounds.

While the album offers many upbeat and happy songs that will be sure to get you grooving in your seat, it is the softer and more contemporary songs you’ll want to pay close attention to.

“Life Is Beautiful” and “I Will Be Undignified” will immediately put you in a good mood with cheerful and optimistic energy. Both songs are also great reminders as a testament to the freedom and joy we should consistently indulge in as Christians.

Having remained in the top 20 Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart for 22 consecutive weeks, the radio hit and celebratory song “Rescuer (Good News)” gives listeners a deeper look on the theme of Jesus Christ as Savior. The song is a beautiful and catchy indication of how Christ intervenes in the lives of those He loves and rescues from doubt, fear, and so forth.

One song that stands out is “No Outsiders” with its powerful lyrics stating no one, whether believers or sinners, is beyond the reach of God’s love as he always welcomes those attempting to find their way into his arms.

‘And there are no outsiders, to Your love
We are all welcome, there’s grace enough
You are the open door, when I have wondered Lord
There are no outsiders
There are no outsiders
To Your love’

Joined by Hillsong Young & Free, “Marching On” is another upbeat tune that will have you feeling like you are marching along to the joyous melody of God’s bountiful grace. “Weep With Me” is a notable song on the album with its message about how Christ endures in our pain and suffering all while loving us.

The last song on the album, “Christ Live In Me,” serves as a great closer with lyrics about second chances and the knowledge we have died to self and that Christ reigns within us.

From endearing and joyful songs about faith to humbling and deep messages about love and encouragement, “Good News” is an album worth listening to from beginning to end.
